Rye Coalition began in 1993 with five high school friends who bonded through a love of indie/hardcore/punk rock. Rehearsing in their parent’s Jersey City basements and graduating to VFW halls and indie rock clubs (Brownies, Coney Island High, CBGBs, Maxwells), Rye Coalition helped shape the 90’s New Jersey/New York City indie/punk scene. Rye Coalition’s first recording was a demo cassette tape (1994′s “Dancing Man”, self-released), backed by an East Coast tour in a beat up schoolbus long before most of them had their driver’s license. Over the following 15+ years, they recorded with famed engineer Steve Albini and rock maven Dave Grohl (at the legendary Sound City Studios), touring relentlessly with everyone from Shellac, Trans Am, Mars Volta, Queens of the Stone Age, The Foo Fighters and many more.
