6 STRING DRAG 11pm

After 16 years in hibernation, 6 String Drag is back and as potent as ever. In the late ‘90s, the Carolinas quartet stood out as pioneers of the nascent alt-country movement. Their Steve Earle-produced LP, High Hat remains an undisputed classic of its era.
In 2015, founding members Kenny Roby, Rob Keller, Ray Duffey and Scotty Miller reunite for Roots Rock ‘N’ Roll, the band’s first studio album in over 17 years. The 11 new songs are a celebration of the long lost art of old school rock ‘n’ roll. But while rooted in things we all know and love, it’s freshly non-retro, retaining the uncompromising vision and energy that first put 6 String Drag on the map
“So thrilled to have 6 String Drag back again. They’re as great as ever. Like reconnecting with a long lost friend.” - Patterson Hood (Drive-By Truckers)
“The world’s a better place with 6 String Drag in it.” - Steve Earle
“6 String Drag are one of the best American bands of the last twenty years, so glad to have them back in my life.” - Neal Casal (Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Hard Working Americans, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals)
“Those who remember 6 String Drag…will be thrilled with this terrific, unexpected return. But even the many who never got to experience the band in their prime the first time around will enjoy this wonderfully exuberant and spirited release…” - American Songwriter
“Roots Rock ‘N’ Roll is a brilliant, poised comeback that updates the essential 6 String Drag sound. Good, good stuff. Welcome back, boys.” - Ink 19
“This new 6 String Drag set lives up to its title in every sense of the word—it’s rootsy as hell, and it’ll rock your ass off!” - Blurt
“Led by frontman Kenny Roby, 6 String Drag merges the band’s early punk roots with no-frills southern honky tonk in a show that is sure to see your southern pride surge. Roby’s story telling excels, too, making the band’s songs resonate long after the amplifiers have gone quiet.” - Charlotte Viewpoint
Tight. Crisp, horned-rimmed glasses kinda rock ‘n roll. And every note is glorious. It ranges from Buddy Holly-esque anthems, to slick film noir crooners, to sad sad blues all done up with that early rock ‘n’ roll vibe. Even those shoe-gazing hipsters will be tapping their toes when they hear 6 String Drag’s latest effort. Somewhere in heaven Roy Orbison is smilin’ and sayin’, ‘yeah man, good music doesn’t have an expiration date.'” - Americana Music Show
